    Starbucks at the Gym?

Saturday night, around 11, I was at the gym going through my leg routine when I notice this guy walk past with a venti Starbuck's in his hand. My first thought was I guess he likes the caffeine rush while working out.

Well obviously he knows what he's doing, after all he looked to be about 5'9" tall and around 190 pounds ripped. And you don't grow like that without some knowledge of what you are doing.

Any of you drink coffee when lifting? I thought something like that would just cause you to be dehydrated.

with the exception of green tea I avoid caffiene. coffee is like crack to some people, they can't function with out it, that shit kills me.

my thoughts exactly. i get lectured on my habit of smoking pot 1-2x/week by people that have to suck down 100oz of coffee/day to function

hell, where i work they sell gourmet coffee right there, in the gym, in front of the cardio machines. And when i'm working out at 6 am, the bold scent of cuban coffee fills the air in the weight room.

i have not had coffee in weeks. Weird, considering that i went from hating it to depending on it, to just recently forgetting that it is even there. I have been drinking tea like crazy. MOstly decaf tea, peppermint or raspberry tea (www.stashtea.com).

If you are working out saturday night at 11 o´clock, coffee is not exactly the thing you should worry about.

No, I pretty much don´t drink anything besides water or maltodextrin. I think I might get sick if I ate or drank something like coffee.

Caffeine helps to increase strength because it releases epinephrine from the adrenal glands, resulting in increased muscle contraction. Perceived exertion is reduced when this happens.

    Meaning: caffeine=pushing more weight.

Please for the sake of your taste buds drink coffee that isn't over roasted and shitty (a.k.a Starbucks)

I don't drink coffee 'during' my workout but always have a big cup of it on my way to the gym, directly before training.

I thought caffein is really bad for you, there are lists and lists of health problems you can get from drinking it, thats why i only drink 1 soda a week. you might be saying wtf man soda is bad for you, well it is but look at coffee too, i read a study where there is more than 44 chemicals in coffee, 23 of those were tested and 18 of them were founded cancergenic. If you ask for evidence i dont have the article but i might be able to dig it up

Occasionally I'll take a cup of coffee sweetened with two splenda packets before workout. I get some awesome cardio out of that.

I used to have coffee probably around 3-5 times a week when I had no idea what I was doing diet wise and training wise. Now I'll just have one once every week or two as a treat, but there's no way I could have it anywhere close to my workout time. It makes me feel weird... Not really in a good way either.

I occasionaly go for a Red Bull if I'm particularly tired, but I try not to do it to often. I don't want to get to the point where I need it to get a good workout.

SICK!!! No way. Starbucks coffee tastes like shit. Technically speaking, you would get more caffeine from drip coffee then you would from a espresso.

Coffee has cavity fighting enzymes, even though it stains your teeth it protects them from cavities. Supposedly if you drink through a straw it doesn't stain as much.
