Question Genetics?

How important do you think genetics are in respect to bodybuilding?

Do you think you have good genetics?

Alot of us don't have the genetics to be professional bodybuilders, but that doesn't mean we still cannot look good and be healthy.

Personally, I have no desire to be a pro because I am too old for it (35), and I have an established career as an aircraft dispatcher - which is something I love doing. Heh, how many people can say they are GLAD to go to work?

Anyway, genetics are only important to those wanting to go pro (IMHO)

I think that genetics are pretty important to bodybuilding. some people put on fat or can cut fat easier than others, some people put on muscle faster than others and general shape of you body and size and shape of muscle bellies are all genetic.
This is not to say that you can't overcome poor genetics. with good training, the right supplements and drugs you can look pretty good.
as far as the last question goes, I feel that I have both good and bad genes.

i like how you added after pills drugs... But ne ways, genetics are very important, but I overcame my genetics. My family tends to have the diabetic look,(tire around the middle, skinny legs ect) It just runs in my family, people kept telling me your big boned you'll never be the skinny model type. Well I don't want to be the skinny model type but i do want to be built. So i over came, I am fit, NO tire around the middle and no one could believe it. But with alot of hardwork, you can do what ever you put your mind and BODY to.

All things being equal, genetics has an ENORMOUS amount to do with making progress in bodybuilding. Genetics can often times be more powerful than the influence of steroids!

I feel I have above average genetics in respect to my "structure," but not in my ability to put on muscle...which I feel is about avarage.

Genetics aren't
everything though you can still do alot with your body through hard work, blood and sweat. Look at Bruce Lee for instance he had the worst genetics he was: Small, very thin and blind as a bat. But he overcame his genetics 10 fold!

I think i've got average/good genetics cuz i'm tall (6'), broad shoulders, tiny waist, mesomorph arms and ecto/meso legs.

As far as bodybuilding goes, my genetics suck. I can lift more than a lot of guys that are twice my size at the gym. It really frustrates me. However, my bodybuilding genetics might suck, but I have been blessed with good genetics in other areas. I'll always be lean, I'll always have a full head of hair (even though bald IS beautiful ), I have perfect vision, and I should live into my 90's. I'll take those over the ability to easily pack on muscle any day.

I must say though that the pic of me is not accurate! I make sure to switch hands to ensure equal development of both forearms. Got to be symmetrical!

I have good genetics concerning muscle density...I know other guys who work out twice as much and they still have little twig legs. I'm lucky and I know it. I would say genetics can make or break you but it can't overtake you!

I have decent genetics as far as muscle shape goes, but the ability to easily build muscle isn't there. I have a nice V taper and feel I'm pretty well balanced, but being an ectomorph with looong arms and legs doesn't make it easy. There's a black guy at our gym that has perfect genetics. All he has to do is look at a weight stack and he grows. He's amazing!!!

365 cut??? That would be enormous! How tall?

Sounds a bit exaggerated to me.
