free weight lifting
hey everybody, im new to this and i was just lookin for some advice. i am currently in the process in buying a weight bench (just something simple) and i was planning on gettin dumbbells. i would usually go with something bigger but i have very limited space to deal with so i really cant fit anything more than 6'x6'. my question is that is their much of a difference between using dumbbells rather than a barbell? i figure using dumbbells would be a good choice also because i can work out each arm at the same weight rather than possibly compensating for the other like i would do in other systems. i was originally plannin on gettin a barbell but because of the space issue i think its easier to store the dumbbells and i can keep them off to the side. keep in mind, im not looking to get real big, but to just gain more alittle more muscle and tone up.

Make sure they are adjustable dumbells. The kind that you put plates on. I think that DBs are great. There is soooo much you can do with them. I sometimes use them more frequently then the barbell.
