    http://bowflexselecttech.ca/dumbbells.asp
Does anyone here own these or have used them? Are they durable?
    Just looking for some feedback.
I think its an ingenius idea. However, I already own enough dumbbells.

Not that I would buy them. They aren't expensive or flashy. They actually are cheap in theory and I think they look cheap. When I say cheap in theory I mean 15 pairs of dumbells are going to be over 500$. I think the dumbells go around 50/60 cents a pound. Adds up when your buying 60, 70 pounders.

I have them and lovem, gotem' as a b-day gift a while back. Prior to that I just had the "plate together" db's. Its kind of nice not having to screw around swapping plates all the time.

My grandparents made some wise business decisions when they were younger so they tend to be quite generous to us grandchildren.

Personally, I'd just use the DBs with removable plates. If necessary, get the 25 lb plates made for curl bars and use them on your DBs like I sometimes do. It's a lot cheaper than spending $500 on one pair of DBs (yes I realize it's really more than one pair in theory and practice). Sure, it may take about 30 seconds to change them, but I for one don't have money to burn. If you're rich, however, go for it.

When buying 60-70 pound dumbells, the bow flex ones won't help much, seems like they only go to 47.5 pounds... They look like they have some benifits, if you have big iron blocks for dumbbells, the bowflex weights will take less space, and compared to using plates... well, now it takes less time. I imagine for a lot of the members of this board 47.5 pounds isn't enough to cover all dumb bell needs but for a huge number of people it's probably enough to cover everything they do. $500 is a lot more than I think it's worth for the amount of weight provided.

Or you could have as much weight as you want for an extremely cheap price in comparison. The compromise? Spend an extra thirty seconds between exercises. Sounds like a deal to me...

I really don't care wether my weights are "flashy" or rusted 20 yr. old dumbbells. If i can squeeze them all into a smaller place, now that would be a plus.

This is obviously the biggest downfall.

Save yourself some money go to a used sports store. You can get 50lbs for about 20 or 30 dollars.
