What kind of routine is this?

A friend of mine is doing this routine with his brother... I was curious if this is a well known training program, or something he devised on his own.

Anyone know?

Day 1 Bench 10x3
Pull Ups (use weight) 10x3
Dead Lift 5x3
Dead Lift (Hypers) 5x3
Barbell Curls 5x3
Reverse Curls 5x3

Day 3 Squat 2x30
Bent Over Rows 2x30
Dumbell Press 2x30
Seated Calf Raises 2x30

Day 5 Pull Downs 2x30
Dumbell Deadlift 2x30
Dumbell Incline 2x30
Tricep (pressdown) 2x30

Day 7 Leg Press 5x3
Squat 5x3
Barbell Press 10x3
Machine Row 5x3
Bent Over Row 5x3
Shrugs 5x3
Calf Press 5x3

Day 9 Bench Press 6x5
Pull Ups 6x5
Hypers 6x5
Curls 6x5

Day 11 Squat 4x15
Machine Row 4x15
Dumbell Press (military) 4x15
Tricep Extension 4x15

Day 13 Pulldowns 4x15
Dumbell Deadlift 2x15

Why would someone use dumbells to do deadlifts?

different loading of the spine. diffenret stabalization in the thoracic cavity. grip work. like doing an independant trap bar deadlift. real big ROM.
