last week i could do it, this week not so much

Yup last week I was lifting fine, this week I can get through the first set but then after that I'm fucked and can hardly get the weights up again. Talking about bench press/incline press. Why does this happen?

Did your diet change? If you're still worn out from your last workout, you're not going to be as strong the next.

There's so many different variables to this question that it's impossible to answer.

(that's why when people say "if you get stronger, you'll get bigger"...which i disagree with)

It could be any number of things...lack of sleep, energy, food intake, mental preparation, concentration etc. etc.

my diet hadn't changed so I'm guessing it must be something like lack of sleep or energy. I hadn't had a really restful sleep the night before so maybe that has something to do with it

Can always pop a couple caffeine pills before workouts where you're feeling a bit drained
