if i cut calories below my maintenance and keep lifting my usuall routine will i begin to loose strenghth? i have decided to try to drop 7-8lbs fat before building muscle up again but i have not done this before and im a bit worried that i wont be able to lift as heavy or as many reps. should i up cardio from 90-120 mins a week or will this contribute to muscle loss? as i have at least 7lbs of fat to burn will it burn this before muscle or is it a case of reducing muscle and fat together?
i am supplementing with protein 1g per 1lb to try to combat muscle loss. i am just a bit worried that my weight/reps are going to decline while im cutting.
anybody with previous experience know what i should expect? is there anything else i should be doing more/less of?
should i up cardio from 90-120 mins a week or will this contribute to muscle loss?
I think one thing you should do first of all is stay under 60 mins a week. You will lose less muscle AND burn MORE FAT if you do short duration HIGH INTENSITY cardio. You'll waste more muscle with longer duration exercise. Long cardio burns more fat while exercising, but short duration with HIGH intensity will more than make up for the difference in how much it will raise your metabolism throughout the day.
when i lower my carb intake, i notice a slight loss of strength. i think a lot of it is due to having less energy on a low carb diet. thermogenics and ephedra help keep the intensity.
