Is it really necessary at all to change the way your toes point during calf raises. Seems like nonsense to do that, when from what i can tell, it does not look it would do much of anything given that all your force is going through one large tendon.
??

I use 2 different calf machines and for each one I use a different angle.
But you still only use one angle for seated and one angle for standing, right? So one angle for the soleus and one for the gastrocnemius... you aren't for example, doing standing calf raises for a couple sets with toes in and then a couple of the same with toes out.
I think it seems pointless... I'd just like someone to confirm my assumption, or correct me.

I am guilty of the doing the former. why do I do it I don't know, I guess I do it out of boredom (I hate calfs).
I thought I was the only one to do them that way.
I have a particular angle that I hold my toes feet etc that I get the most burn/pump paint whatever you would like to call it on the seated calf raises. One of the best calf exercises though I think it putting the barbell on your back and doing calf extensions...Calf extensions? is that what its called well you get the point. Just do what hurts the most then you know your doing it right. I go to the point where my calf feels like its about to cramp up and cause excrutiating pain.
I think it is more about ROM than anything else. DO what gives you the biggest Range of Motion.

I get a full ROM with any angle. I go toe in, toe out and toes straight.
