Those who agree with HIT/Max-OT... would this work at all?

Ok, so the goal is obviously to increase poundages as often as is safely possible with good form and range. Right? So what would be the problems with say, going in to bench, and you only do one rep at whatever weight you start at... then add some weight, one rep... add, one rep... until you cannot perform a single rep... rather than doin sets of multiple reps?

Anyone have comments? Specify whether or not you agree with Max-OT / HIT to begin with as that would obviously affect your into approach to lifting in general.

Well as an HIT supporter, as long as the rest intervals are real low between the times where you take off weight, there fine.

To increase strength I'd rather do 3-5 reps per set, add weight, repeat. The problem I see is, at least with a lot of my clients, fresh momentum helps clear one rep where the real work begins at two.

A lot of people bounce it off their chest; they don't fight the negative at all and let it touch and then pretty much blast off for one rep.
