It depends a lot on your training goals and how experienced you are. I suppose it's possible for a newbie to move up 30 within a month, but that's really pushing it. If that did happen, I wouldn't expect it to ever happen again for the same person so long as s/he kept on training. Otherwise, perhaps 20-25 pounds in 3 months would be a good goal.

Ooh, that means it's dangerously low. Seek medical help.

I'm only joking of course, and hopefully the IQ drop wasn't from my previous post...

Wait, I just realized that this is the same guy who said he could squat 750 and leg press 950. In my opinion, you should read the stickies and do a lot of research on working out. I'm not saying I'm the most knowledgeable person here, because I'm not, but sometimes my advice isn't half bad. I'm not sure if you got this information from somewhere specifically or if you just made it up, but if you got it from somewhere, I wouldn't be too trusting of that source.

He was basically asking if it was possible increase his bench 30-40 pounds per month. Whether you didn't know what he was asking, or where he got those numbers, I can't really tell.

lol ok
i remember in high school(weight lifting class or what ever it was called) we would get graded by going up in weights. 20 lbs a month would be an A. 15-b etc... by that systen i should be benching 400lbs by end of year. seems like a lot come to think of it
LOL

I understood what he was asking, I asked something like that before but from the other thread I thought he knew about bodybuilding and was not a newbie.

That's what I would think after his claim of a 750 squat, but hey...

How could you squat at least 700 but leg press 950? It doesn't make any sense. Plus the fact that you had no idea how much weight one could move up in a month, it doesn't make sense that you'd be that successful in your training.

i just said that as an estimate. i think i may have over done it there.
In high shool i was doing 450 squats now that i remember.

and on the leg press im doing 950 but i do them like squats (bringing my legs to a 90 degree angle on the decline then going up.) my legs come 5 inches from my chest. any more i would be pushing all that weight at a wrong angle and with different muscles

Naturally, for major muscle groups I experienced 5-15 lbs per month depending on how far I was into my current routine. Keep in mind that lots of factors can come into play, like supplements, stress and sleep, how long you've been training, type of routine, genetics etc.. Basically everyone is different and will realize different gains. All you can do is tailor your training and diet regimine to suit your needs and go as hard as you can. The gains will come.

I once gained about 20-25 pounds on my bench in 6-8 weeks. That was because I decided to start doing heavy DB presses. When I tell other people they work wonders, I'm not kidding.

Not sure if anyone will believe me, but I gained 115 pounds on my max bench press in about 2 months. So it is possible, but probably much more likely for someone who is just beginning to lift weights.

That is mighty hard to believe. But I suppose it's possible. For one thing, I'm sure your form improved from the first to second max, which means more weight to your max because you're using your muscles more efficiently. That, plus the added strength, and it's possible, but probably won't happen to many people in the world.
