Is it ok?
I just got back from the gym and i just had a question. I am doing the HST 10 rep routine and my orignal plan was to workout every other day and on off days do my cardio. Well today and yesterday i worked out and did 20 minute cardio. Is it ok to workout day after day, morso if im not in pain? or should I be more strict and stick to my original plan?
Thanx alot everyone ![]() Last edited by crazy8 : 06-03-2005 at 08:19 AM. |

Its less about pain and more about the CNS needing a chance to relax. If you feel you are progressing at an acceptable rate then keep going. If you feel like you are becoming run down, drop the cardio or something. HST is very similar to a circuit style routine in what it does to your heart rate already, so I'd liken it to cardio with those short rest periods.
Are you only doing 10 reps, or are you just in the 10 rep period? I did 2 weeks of 15, then 10, and then a week of 5 - but was having problems with my left arm at that point.

Right now i do each exercise as the HST chart fallows. The after im done with my routine i go and do 20 minute cardio. I figure what will do is after so long of doing say 70 ponds on alot of my routine i will up it to 80 or 85. then switch up again.i think now that i got back from the gym this is all being added on right now, and im starting to feal just a lil tender I think i will stick to my routine....Mon, Wed,Fri. i do work out and then Tues, Thurs, and maybe Sat. do 45 minute cardio.

personally, I never had great luck or gains working that rep scheme or the every other day stuff. What works best for me is that I do 1-2 bodyparts everyday and recupe after five days, starting the cycle over. Cardio is HIIT 4 days a week, 16 minutes, after the iron, and then I switch the next week I change to low intensity 30 minutes cardio. I stay fresh and dont have to worry about overtraining. Plus I change the workout every 3 weeks. The reps usually stay in between 6-8 and 10-12 for the latter sets.
Try this for a cycle and see how it works. It's only 6 weeks of your time. And keep the diet equal to all the work you put into the gym! ![]() |
