It is not that difficult Curse, if he can do the basic streching exercises for the looping squats, he may be able to do it afterall.

I agree. But add CG Bench in there.

Id recommend only those 3 for size and strength.

Yeah idk why I do CG bench so rarely... but I have to say my favorite is skullcrushers with a curl bar. After doing my sets for chest, my entire tricep routine usually ends up being about 2 sets skullcrushers and 2 sets cable pressdowns... that's about it... but it's been very effective so far.

Dumbell extension behind the neck.

Reverse barbell curl standing (EZ)

Close gripped bench press, EZ bar. (Got told about this by someone on IM, never tried it before)
In just the last three weeks, Close Grip has started putting roundness and definition into my triceps---unreal! Here's how I do it {below}--don't hold your hands that close together if it starts to hurt (which it doesn't with me). And keep bar level-unlike me.

Your first exercise there is an isolation not mass building.

Your second exercise is not even for triceps

And an exercise doesn't give you definition, low BF does.

you mean a compound multi joint movement, "not mass builder"...

BTW boys, you should know that the bench is it. to bench like a powerlifter IS to train triceps, no question about it. fucc all these mickey mouse movements, they are supplementary tri movements to the bench

Aside from light press downs I don't do any other tricep work because my elbows feel like they are on fire when I do a single joint elbow ext. (LOL). Heavy benching or overhead pressing has served me well over the years.

Skulls in aimed towards the lower part of my face (elbows below the chest): For strength/mass

Press downs: for PUMP/size/aesthetics

Athough on most, I too cannot go much more than perpendicular in the elbow, without inducing pain

1st exercise has increased the size of my triceps.

2nd exercise not specifically for triceps (granted), but it's helped as well.

BF -- Ok one needs lower BF for more definition, but recently I've seen new "contours" on my upper arm- because of the above mentioned exercise- especially the close grip BP. Yes, of course the arms , abs etc would look better with lower BF.

Let me sort out my frequency of training, and type of work-out (yea, I'm still struggling with that!) --and then I'll concentrate more on my diet , with regards to improving definition.

Im definitely not pointing the finger at any one person here but its how funny how a question like "what is the BEST tricep excercise?" gets ALL those varying responses. Personally I think there were only about 2 or 3 posts that were worth reading. Reverse grip standing CURLS...for the TRICEPS? Benchpress ONLY? The key to a good benchpress, especially POWERLIFTERS, is to strengthen the triceps and you get some tricep work from benchpressign but there is no way that it is enough. Maybe if you just want to be a little toned your ok with it but to really gain mass/strength in the tri's you will have to do more than just benchpress movements. I workout with 4 competitive powerlifters and they spend almost as much time working triceps (skullcrushers, closegrip press, 2types of pushdowns) as they do training on bench.

No other tricep exercises give me more pump than the seated overhead dumbell tricep extension.

This is the only tricep exercise that hurts my joints. ACtually, it's almost more of a tendon pain at the posterior base of my humerus, rolling over to my ulna.

Can't tell you what the best one is, because everyone is different. I can tell you which one I prefer....and that's rope pushdowns.

Do you let it fall past perpendicular??

I only get that type of pain when ALL the way down (Bicep to Forearm)

Not bicep to forearm... tricep to forearm... back of my arm.

We are taught in this forum that the "pump" doesn't mean your building muscle though

I like overhead tricep extensions, skull crushers, and cg bench press. CG bench press for heavy, skull crushers in the middle, and overheads to finish.
