so it seems as tho i'm localizing fat loss....
i have about 8-10% bodyfat and it collects around the love handles....you can see my abs quite well as they become very big when i do intensive ab workouts, but until i go on the sumemr cutting diet, i always have a few pounds of lard on the lovvies......
well at the new gym i signed up at, they have a machine called a torso rotary machine....you sit in with your chest against a v shaped pad and you twist a 90 degree turn with weight resistance, then switch sides.......well i've done it three days last week ( sets of 30 each side, low weight) and have noticed definite fat loss on the love handles, without any change at all to my workout routine or diet.....i thought this wasn't possible?

Muscle cannot break down fat all by itself. But if you work the muscle in an area then you can still tighten up the area somewhat. This is why chest workouts are recommended to large breasted women, it doesn't shrink anything, but it can tighten up the area.
There is a difference between a small, weak and atrophied muscle and actually working it out a little.

well so whats going on with there being definite less fat there? like, i poke it and there's less now than there was even 4 days ago.......would it make sense to say something like, since that's really the only place i have fat, that since i'm more intensively working the muscle than i ever have before that it's burning all fat better, and it just seems to be localized since the only fat is where i'm using the new muscle?

I wouldn't put a lot of faith in someones "poke test." If you feel more firm where you used to be soft, dont you think there could be more firm tissue underneath?
I prefer to be scientific, the mirror is certainly great - but your methods are somewhat lacking in proving anything. ![]() Fat is not broken down locally for purposes of feeding muscle that is nearby. New muscle as you call it, is actually just hypertrophied muscle cells that have been there already. Just so we are all on the same page.

you are building up the muscle, not just losing fat from that area. i dont know who said this but i heard it in this forum. Picture your abs as a pool that you cant see the bottom(abs), you can take out water(fat) or you can bring the bottom of the pool closer to the surface(building muscle). sounds like your building it up, not losing water as much

muscles do not burn fat locally, it's physiologically impossible. sounds like whatever is happening is good, just take it as that...
