strength and cutting
I've decided to start cutting calories for the summer months, not a strict cutting diet, but less calories than I have been eating. I have been pretty much increasing my weights and or reps every workout session prior to this calorie reduction.
Should I expect my progress to stall, or will I be ok so long as my protein intake is sufficient? I know I always feel I can lift "better" when I eat more, and bear in mind this won't be a big calorie drop, just a bit, so I am wondering if I should just continue what I am doing weight training wise, regardless of if my lifts start to suffer...thanks |

If you have been training for more than 6 months, it will probably prove challenging unless your training was a little poor beforehand.
Since you aren't cutting a lot in the way of calories, your chances are at least good for maintaining -depending how much you plan to lose. Everyone seems to have mixed luck here. When I lose strength it starts with upper body pressing, then pulling - lower body stuff stays virtually the same all the time when strength is declining elsewhere.

so you have to figure that if your lifts do not keep improving then you can consider it because of the calorie reduction, not training methods, assuming all was going well beforehand?
So you just keep using as heavy weights as you can, even if you stall on the same weight for a couple of weeks, or even decrease? |
