Upper Back

Hi.
I want to know the best way to work the upper back area?
I only have free weights and a bar.
Any help will be appreciated.

thanks for the tips.
I have a question though. Doesn't that mess up or hurt the lower back area when you are done?

Not if you use proper form with weight you can handle.

shrugs, even deadlifts work the upper back if done properly. pullups and chins aswell if you can find something to pull yourself up on.

I second that. Shrugs, and deads along with rows, pullups, and pulldowns are all good stuff.

if it hurts excessively, etc. then you need to work on your core strength. abs, errector spinae, etc.

Yeah, if you're just starting, you might want to consider doing hyper extensions for a few weeks before deadlifts. If deads feel fine when you're doing them, and you don't feel any nerve pain later, go ahead.

i tried it 2 days ago, and now my lower back hurts everytime I do other exercises.
Can anyone post a pic of how a "proper form" looks like when you are doing this? I am obviously doing something wrong, unless not being able to get up from bed is normal.
