I always use about 4-6 seconds on the eccentric portion of all my lifts. no reason to go slow during the concentric portion, pointless...
I train differently than most, my beef is with gravity the weights on the bar are just the medium...Thanks to Wall Street your slice of the American Pie has been reduced to a crumb.

Bench the way Lam explained his lifting style ( slow eccentric ). You should never lift weights fast,IMO.

You don't need to go slow so to speak on reps, just make sure the weight is completely under control at all times. (i go pretty slow on the negative portion myself)

no to super slown. Force= Mass X Acceleration. You need to attempt to move heavier weights faster to develop maximum strength, and moderate weights even faster still to develop power and speed-strength, or the ability to generate the most force in the least time. Super-slow can't do this. Some believe that super slow lifting is beneficial because it is diffucult to perform and painful, it is not the best way to stimulate muscle growth. Super slow lifting accumulates too much lactic acid within your muslces and fatigues them before they reach real momentary muscular failure.

Go slow on the negative. It is the downward motion that inflicts the muscle fibres, and controlled negative motion will encourage the fibres to do more.

I go as fast as I can on the up (I rep about 4-6 so I use heavy weights), which still ain't that fast, then on the lower I go slower.
