I love the scene in Pumping Iron when Lou is screaming while doing upright rows and Arnold starts laughing at him.
I highly recommend all IronMagLabs supplements!

In Pumping Iron, Lou is always like "I can't do anymore! no! no!" and then he'll be able to bust out five more reps. Why is that?

I catch myself gritting my teeth sometimes. I usually remain pretty quiet, except for the occasional forceful exhale or mild grunt.

you ever hear adam sandler sex or weight lifting? i was lifting by this guy in my gym, we were the only ones there, and i noticed we were making sex noises. i got embarrassed n went to the other end of the gym.

but in other arenas a little noise doesn't bother me at all.

The only time I genuinely scream and can't help it is when I'm on the leg sled doing my 30th rep with four plates on each side (which is quite a lot for me)

It's more of a cry, really.

I breathe. I don't really find making any kind of noise necessary while lifting, and I like to concentrate on moving the correct muscles instead of squeezing my jaw together. I think breathing really is the best thing to do. Without it, it would be hard to lift for long anyways.

Probably dramatic effect, some of that movie was scripted to entertain you (BS).

Really i used to yell but everytime i did my wife ran in to see if i was ok. I train at home. So no more yelling. Last thing i need when lifting is to see her face and here the following. Your using to much weight and going to hurt yourself. Remember your not 20 years old anymore. But no problem as she leaves when dumbells start heading her way.

I pull my face , and grunt when the going gets tough- and I'm not using weights that are that heavy- I'll probably shriek with vigour when I can squat double my bodyweight .

There was once a bodybuilding book that I had (either by Ellington Darden, or called 'Brawn')where it was advocated that one keeps a straight face at all times, and no shouting or noises. That's bloody stupid and dangerous advice in my opinion.
