I always set the machine with my ankles down as far as possible while the weight is rested on the knob... thing. That way I have the most movement available for my ankles to either pull them out or set the weight back.
I experienced a scary incident. I loaded up the calf machine with 180 lbs and on my 5 rep, my left foot slipped to the floor and i dropped the weight. Of course, before i dropped it, i immediately pull out my other foot.....
Man, that's was close call....otherwise i will be limping with a broken ankle. Uff...
Next time, different sole sneakers. Another culprit could be the slippery matt that they never bother to clean.
BTW, How do you move this to the proper forum?

Anyway, bout the calf machine... assuming you mean seated. YEAH, I know what you mean. It can feel SO hard to keep ur feet from sliding at full stretch. What I do is slide my butt WAY forward, so that when my feet are FLAT on the bar... calves are stretched. Hopefully that made sense. That way your foot doesn't have to roll over the edge any for a full stretch.
Doing what I mentioned above has helped me out a lot... but if you are like me, you'll have to add alot more weight doing it as i mentioned... I guess it just gives you more leverage.

This way you squeeze your feet into the foot platform, I do that as well..As to minimize any clearance/gap....Originally Posted by drew.haynes
