    benching...bringing the bar/dumbells to the neck

    is it good to bring the bar/dumbells down to the neck? i heard its hard and you will build more chest muscle

    Sure it a great way to lift. Now add 200 lbs more then your one time max rep and try it without a spotter. Now if you survive death, that will answere your ?.....

    For bench you should not be bringing the bar to your neck. If you are, you're not even working your chest..... Get a training coach.

    middle of your chest or a little below, you will get different answers here.

    brining down the bar to your neck does workout your chest..its supposed to put more stress on you upper chest.

    I sincerely doubt that bringing the bar to your neck rather than mid chest to xiphoid succeeds in anything other than extra stress on your rotator cuff and shoulder joint or a tricep workout... depending how you manage to even get it there.

    Slightly wider than shoulder width grip and to the mid chest will be the best way to work the chest.

    Well the fact that he's only 14 he's bound to make a mistake pressing the bar to his neck by himself. No offense on your age Kenwood but I was there once and my nephews are about that age.

    The bar to the neck is just another ancient body building myth.Some old pro use to preach it for upper chest development, but I cant remember who....but I tried it when I was a teenager
