I agree, the bench just seems to screw some people up...I think all the behind the neck pull ups and presses aggravate the shoulder, creating a fertile ground for benching injuries.

It seems to me like the bench press is the most common. Shoulder injuries in general are relatively wide spread.

that and the fact that most people do not realize how easy it is to overtrain the anterior deltoid, something has to give...

For me the two killers were...

INCL DB press - shattered my right humerous and had to have my r-shoulder reconstructed

Barbell Row - Left Inguinal Hernia

Never had an injury till I hit 30!

Injuries only happen when your either over training or using bad form.
So for this it's Deadlifts or any heavy shoulder exersize and any heavy hamstring training(witch are just like shoulders very sensitive for injury) if to many (real)injuries are created you should change you training schedule.(more rest between trainings, like chest and shoulders. back and hamstring)

Only on the muscles for me, they look nasty but if you do them right you should be fine from my experience to date. I dont go heavy lately though with them.

I hurt my shoulders going too heavy, too fast, and too often on incline barbell presses. I think I was 20 at the time. I did them twice a week and up to 315 lbs. Usually 275lbs. for reps. I'm 27 now and can't do that on inclines because of injury. I've always used good form, but with real heavy weight on inclines my form wasn't 100%. Part of being young and motivated I guess.

I no longer even do incline presses and things have recently dramatically improved. My delts were bothering me even on flat bench when I began training again. I got back to a certain weight fast and easy, but once I reached that weight I couldn't go any higher. It wasn't because my muscle wasn't strong enough or my form was bad, but at that weight my shoulders hurt. It's as if all the weight transfers to the shoulder joint and is no longer on the muscle. It's hard to explain. Anyone who's had shoulder issues will understand. People who haven't think you're making shit up... Anyway, I overcame that with cautious training and giving my delts time to get strong. I've gotten up to a personal high now of 365lbs for reps on flat bench. Still a long way away from where I should be. Ever since I was 17 I've spent more time away from the gym than in it. Consistancy is the #1 key to gains... Even more than great genetics!

May the Lord Jesus Christ bless those who bless me as I gladly accept their blessings, and curse those who curse me all the while protecting me for any evils. In Christ name, amen...
