Walking and the heart
I've decided to walk for 30 minutes at a medium/fast pace on the days that I don't weight lift. This isn't cardio in the traditional sense, but it is to strengthen my heart. Just how effective is walking for keeping your heart in good health? I'm pretty sure it's one of the best possible exercises, but I'd like to know your opinions. Also, how far will it go to help shed a little weight in conjunction with weight lifting? I'd imagine it would help more so than the lifting (I lift heavy).

Any kind of exercise that will elevate your heart rate, is good.

It can go a long way if you walk long enough. I have a tendecy of walking a lot. Summer it backfires on me, due to losing weight. So, I don't walk a lot in the summer. A 30 minute walk won't do anything for me, however, a 1 - 1.5 hour walk really burn some calories. So, I save those kind of walks for the Fall/Winter season. How fast you walk, is subjective, for everyone walks at a different pace. Dude, your like 15. Why don't you ride a bike? |
