You might try going to a boxing gym
Punching power comes from your lower body and core.......and you need to learn how to punch as well.

If you wanna learn to fight, become a boxer or a kickboxer. Im a pretty big guy at 6'1.5" and 250 odd pounds and I know guys who box half my size that could lay me out flat. Fighting isn't about raw strength, it's more about technique.

You can find a boxing Gym for $20-30 a week, train for a month their and take the advise of the other boxers then start sparring.....your fighting skills will go through the roof quick.............and you might learn not to fight in the street.

This is such good advice...

Power to throw punches comes from torque created from the core of the body.
hand speed amplifies the power with a snap that is an explosion of the fist hitting home...

But to throw mulitiple punches effectively, the body must remain centered
and balanced, foot speed will allow you to engage quickly to deliver all
this mayhem...

So put in the Rocky music and wear yourself out on the bags -

If I had to recommend one thing, I would say heavy bag drills

I used to run this...

straight rights and lefts, nonstop, all out
(with perfect stance and form only)

30 seconds
10 sec rest
30 more

45 sec rest

L & R hooks, nonstop, all out
(with perfect stance and form only)
30 sec
10 sec rest
30 more sec

45 sec rest

L & R uppercuts, nonstop, all out
(with perfect stance and form only)
30 seconds
10 sec rest
30 more sec

45 sec rest

Combinations , nonstop, all out
Use all the previous punches, learn to alternate to save stamina
by using the different motions to rest particular body parts
(with perfect stance and form only)

30 seconds
10 second rest
30 seconds

DONE

This should be a piece of cake for you -

It's not even 7 minutes

exactly

9 times out of 10 the guy who doesn't hesitate wins. Its about committing to the fight. Beyond that it is technique. All else being equal, then strength comes into it.

i would suggest some basic boxing classes and if you can some basic grappling classes... sure training in the gym will make you stronger but technique and knowing what you are doing is the key... you will be surprised how many people cannot throw a solid punch...

Unless your fighting me..............then you better be able to run 2 miles in 13 min or less or you are going to be in a world of hurt when I catch you.

To hit, you need flexibility in your arms and torso

Honestly I'd say plyometrics would be very effective. They work primarily explosive movements and that's what it's all about. Most people don't understand that in a fight, you're not just punching. Legs can help not only with punches, but with things like kicks. I'd rather know how to kick in a fight than punch. Not to mention getting out of holds they might put you in (I realize this isn't wrestling, but it's a fight and you never know what your opponent will do). Being a bigger guy, it comforts me to know that if someone were to jump on my back, I could probably get that person off.

Push yourself. Enjoy yourself. Be yourself.
Knowledge is power. Obsessed with functional strength. Journal

Ever watch K1 or kick boxing?????......the puncher with skill and power always kills the "Kicker"....looks good in a movie but in a real fight..............

Well think about it: you can kick someone for about a foot longer of a range than he can punch you from. If you can actually kick fast, it's much more powerful.
