    Hi, I would like to know what muscle is worked most when doing pushups?

    its too much of a compound movement to tell. changing body position changes which muscles get the emphasis

    True, but changing bench angles changes the same things, and it's still more of an emphasis on chest, then triceps, then shoulders in its standard form. I'd say that the more vertical your body is, the more the emphasis is on shoulders and less on chest and triceps. I could be wrong though.

    no, i beg to differ. i think triceps are worked most.

    depends where your hands are. closer together, theyll work the tris more. further apart, more chest involvement.

    Actually I'd have to agree with that. Having never done push ups very much, I sort of assumed it was primarily chest because of its similarity to benches and such. Do a couple on the floor and (IMO) the triceps are worked the most.
