I've got an old clunker road bike here, I hadn't ridden in a couple of years. So I decided I would take it for a little spin this AM, about 20 minutes, 5 miles up and down a few hills.

After I got back and caught my breath; I feel like I could eat the tires off it. Maybe 20 years younger even. If you got one laying around try it.

Are you saying it's number for aerobic exercise?

I hate running so I might do this with the kids.

I hate running to, and it's hard on your body in general. But I had forgotten just what a pump the bike was, I had been substituting walking for it.

I hadn't ridden this one because it is just an old sears, I sold my $1500 one, and didn't think this one was worth riding. Boy was I wrong.

I would keep it short though, and pretty brisk, average about 15 MPH. That's 5 MI. 20 minutes. I used to ride long distances, 100+ miles or so that drains you. But a short ride to get the heart, and lungs working good is great, I don't think I have found anything to beat it yet. I still feel like eating nails, and thats been about 4 hours ago.

Agreed, biking is awesome. A great low-impact exercise. Swimming is another great alternative form of cardio that is low-impact. I've been thinking about buying a bicycle myself.

i used to bike alot, found it great fun among other things, but back at gym next week and get swimming pool free so will be using that as cardio, plus my running training for the army, with swimming supposedly excersising every muscle group is it worth only doing this once or twice a week or even every day?

I'm kinda like an old car, the paint job is somewhat worn, the vinyl top is a little thin, upholstery not to bad. But she still runs like new.
