    Good, thorough workout routines

What has been my main problem and what continues to be my main problem is lacking a good workout routine.

I am relatively new to lifting (only about a year now) and never did any lifting during high school so I am relatively uneducated.

I sometimes go with a buddy who plays football and I follow his workout which always, always kills me - i.e. it's a great workout that I should keep doing. But I can't always go with him.

Simply put, I need a good workout routine for the different body parts. I can't find any articles describing good workout routines. And moreover, pictures would be very helpful as like I said, I'm fairly uneducated and probably couldn't identify most of the exercises I'm currently doing by their name.

And some info on me: I'm 5"11 and 140lbs (stick figure, basically). Currently on whey protein and just started creatine (kre-alkalyn).

Stuck in a rut? Failing to make any more measurable gains in size and strength? Do not expect DIFFERENT results from doing the SAME things! If you have been training for several years, chances are your body has fully adapted to the workouts you have been throwing at it time and again. The human body is an ADAPTIVE MACHINE, and it prefers homeostasis. This simply means that your body will fight your efforts to add any more muscle to your frame with all it's might. The body and it's systems do not want change, so if you wish to get bigger, stronger, and leaner, you are going to have to FORCE change, and do so in a way that does NOT allow your body to ever FULLY adapt to the workload that you present to it. Enter POWER/REP RANGE/SHOCK, an intensive, cyclical program that will provide novel stimuli to your muscles each week, and will approach growth through several unique mechanisms. The following will provide a "template" for you to work with, but each individual can "tweak" the program slightly (exercises used, workout split, days per week training) to fit precisely to their needs. Just as long as the basic principles and premise is followed, you should be able to reap the full muscle building benefits of the program.

Wow. I've always liked coming up with my own, simple routines. If you're looking to gain strength, you might want to try mine.

Day One: Clean and presses, SLDLs, bicycle maneuvers, chin ups
    Day Two: Off
    Day Three: Deadlifts, BB benches
    Day Four: Off
Day Five: ATG squats, farmers' walks, pull ups
    Day Six: Off
    Day Seven: Off

I always do three sets of three reps at about 50-60% of 1RM to warm up, followed by three sets of two reps at at least 90% of 1RM to get my workout. For chin ups, pull ups, bicycle maneuvers and farmers' walks, do whatever you feel is necessary for your goals. I've loved doing this routine so far, and it's working very well. I've been doing the 3x3, 3x2 thing for a long time and it's yielded amazing strength gains. Good luck.
