I would assume that it varies on the person's strength.

Exactly. It's not as if the concentration curl is an excellent test of athleticism...

i use the lime green ones and pump out 12 grueling reps then when they become too heavy i switch over to the hot pink ones and do rest pause sets with them, i'm usually lucky to get 3 reps with the pink ones. i just want my arms to be hyooge!

I didn't color code my weights but that's a thought. I lift weights b/c I'm vain. I like curling. I enjoy working my biceps. To each his own I suppose.

just bustin balls bro. i understand everyone has different goals, but this question is just plain retarded. asking what someone curls implies, as squaggleboggin said, athleticism and bicep curls do not show athleticism in the very least. i would have no problem with a question like "how big are you arms" as that has some sort of validity to BB'ers, but gimme a break...its a fuckin bicep curl, it means absolutely nothing.

I know you're kidding. In fact I really enjoy reading your comments throughtout these boards....you and p-funk should do comedy...you're both very funny.

I know the question posed is a bad question, but then again, it is friday afternoon and I'm waiting for the lunch bell to ring so I can go home.....it's something to do.

It just struck me that many people on these boards discount direct bicep exercises as next to worthless or not needed. I like them though.

thanks for the compliment bro, me and Pat would do comedy but i'd probably be too drunk to stand and he would just yell at me for drinking lol.

i understand what your saying, and i'm not really against direct bicep work but i just like to offer people different training ideas to inspire some progress. most people do more work for bi's than legs so most of my advice towards arm training is to lower volume or stop completely and see how you respond. thats pretty much it, i mean i gained an inch on my arms without doing one single bicep curl, just heavy back, lots of pressing and some tri stuff.

Hey, man, look at it this way. Anyone who is doing biceps, is at least in the gym and not planted in front of the tv.

I don't really need to do much for arms, some heavy barbell curls or dumbbell curls, mostly hammers though. its nice to have shaped, sculped arms, no one will discount that. by no means, however, should a curl be used to gauge strength. human arms alone are not designed to handle huge weights, that is what the hips, back and legs are for. interesting thread, in that it got people talking.

I once repped out with 50-55lb DBs on standing curls (rarely do I ever do anything seated). They weren't that pretty though. I was never very good at doing curls only being able to get 125lbs for a few reps at my best. I never really focused on them I guess. I always had good pulling strength though and I am really good at pull ups so I just say screw curls anymore.

lol who said i thought db curl was a test of how good you are at bbing. i indeed agree that back building exercises are more gruelling for biceps but i just wanted to see if people still did the exercise and what weights they were using.
