    HIT question

When school starts it would make a whole lot of sense for me to workout on two consecutive days at the beginning of the week. I'm thinking Mon-Tue-Thurs but have been told everywhere that you should never train on consecutive days.

Is it possible to utilize HIT to its best if I am training on two consecutive days once per week?

I wouldn't train 2 consecutive days in a row!!! Extremely taxing to the CNS imo!!! You can try it and see how you respond, thats the only way to truelly find out my Friend!!!

I train two days in a row sometimes and just train my hips on both days (olympic lifts).

If you want to train like that I would say do something like this:

    mon- lower moderate rep work
    tues- upper moderate rep work
thurs- HIT total body. then you have 3 full days to recover after killing yourself.

Thanks guys. I do have one more question. How many days during an HIT routine should I be doing cardio? I've been doing an HIIT sessions once per week, but wouldn't mind bumping that up to both sunday and wednesday if its needed.

Also I don't do ab work because Dr. Darden doesn't advise it, but would it be acceptable to add a set of failure of weighted sit ups in there somewhere...

I would going to recommend something like what P-funk did. A lower body day, upper body day, and a full body day.

you don't have to. You can break things up like this:

    upper
    Incline DB bench
    row
    pull down
    dips

    lower
    deadlift (from the floor)
    step ups
    leg curls
    calves

    HIT
    overhead press
    squat
    pull up
    bicep curl
    BB shrug

It mostly depends on the individual for whether to train on consecutive days. I'd agree with what someone said above that it's too much for the CNS. However, I use heavy weights all the time and therefore absolutely need the rest. If you have a fast recovery and/or aren't an advanced athlete (or use low intensity), it probably isn't absolutely necessary for you to have a rest day between workouts. It also depends on the actual workout of course.

I could see me doing something like this, but I don't know how much I like hitting my back with the rows and pull downs on the upper day, and the deadlifts on the lower day, and then again on the HIT day. Although this is what I will most likely be switching too for now.

    Thanks P.

What don't you like about it? Deadlifts are hip extensions. If anything your lower back might actually get stronger and then your squat will go through the roof.....LOOK OUT! YOU MIGHT BLOW UP!

    For HIT i would do

    WORKOUT 1 chest/delts/triceps

    WORKOUT 2 legs/back/biceps

    MONDAY workout 1

    bench press
    seated military press
    skull crushers

    TUESDAY workout 2

    Squats
    Rows
    SLDL
    Barbell curll

    Thursday calf and abs

You can do thursday workout easy at home with one legged calf raise with dumbell and some ab work.

The most important thing in HIT is concentrating on each workout like a laser, this workout provides very little overlap between each muscle group and is one I do.

    Hope this helps you

I don't like this split. First of all, you should be putting a rest day after the first workout. Second, why would you work back and legs on the same day? Also, there is no vertical pulling movement, such as pullups, included in this routine.
