if you perform a deadlift correctly you hit many many bodyparts including upper back and legs
I started up doing regular deadlifts again and the next day my upper back and behind my legs hurt, I thought this was suppose to work quads and lower back.

It hits just about everything, but it mainly for hamstrings and lower back.

I do like 12 sets because, I don't do squats or anything else, and I was just starting to do them again since it is a pain to deadlift in my basement. I can barley walk right now and my back is killing me.

12 sets is probably too many, unless you do like 6 on one day and 6 on another. Or if you you are using low intensity it's ok.
It seems like you're trying to make some strength gains. Let me know if you're ever stuck in a rut because I have a routine that's gotten me out of them before and it's been working for a long time now.

I am sure, regular ol deadlifts
well u shouldnt be pulling with your arms at all during a deadlift. Only keeping a firm grip.
btw 16 years old is a good goal lol
i doubt ur gonna grow 3 inches in a year
5 inches, off by 2 inches, anyway I don't use arms I push with my legs.
what i mean to say.... i dont think youll even grow 3 inches ina year... lol w/e that aside
idunno then.
I have an uncle who grew seven inches in one summer...
Why are you asking him about his arms when we're talking about deadlifts?

I think he was mostly wondering if he was feeling it in the right areas... as a check on his form.

Yes, and I was starting to do legs, then I stopped for 2 weeks now im doing them again and gonna keep with it.

Its virtually the same as a squat, except the weight is in front of you not behind you. This is why squats and full deads are not often done in the same week by many people. Rack deads may be substituted, or not at all if the subject can't handle that kind of CNS abuse.Originally Posted by Squaggleboggin
