    Squat

    Just wondering, whats the proper technique in doing a squat? Like how low do u go and resting the bar on ur back and where to grip it and such?

    Also, if i can leg press with both legs about 420pounds how much do u think i can squad?

    With the squat there are several different 'ways' to squat. I always squatted with my feet splayed a little at a little wider than shoulder width and got my 'ass to the grass'.
    Rest the bar where it feels comfortable. For a regular squat, the bar shoulder rest on your traps, front squat it should run across your anterior delts and upper chest. As for the grip, I just hold the bar about a foot from each ear. When squatting, try and keep your back upright. I suggest squatting first with just the bar, getting the feel for the movement and nailing the form. Slowly add weight. Form is more important than weight at the start. In fact, form is always more important than weight

    There is an olympic squat and a PL squat.

    During olympic squats, the bar will rest on your traps. You sit back and down, and the concentric part of the motion involves moving "up." Knee flexion and extension is the primary joint movement you should focus on.

    For PL squats, the bar rests on your posterior delts. You sit back and down, and during the concentric part you move your hips forward. Hip flexion and extension in the primary joint movement you should focus on.

    IMO there is no way to compare leg press and squat based on how much weight you can leg press. Start very light with the squat because even with very low weight you will be sore in muscles you didn't even know you had the next day.

    I agree completely. ATG is the only way to go. It's full ROM or nothing IMO.
