    back injury

10 days ago I was completing my last set of stiff legged Deadlifts when suddenly I heard something in my back go and I felt a shooting pain in my lower back.

I was trying out the little deadlift platform which was in my gym, and I guess I lost form when i looked down on the downward motion (i was checking whether the weight would come down onto the hooks).

For a day or two I could hardly move because of the pain, however after wearing a medicated heat plaster for a couple of days I was on the road to recovery.

I went to the gym yesterday and had a chest & forearm workout, trying to be very careful not to stress my back too much when bringing the wieght up on say incline db press. Still I did not feel 100% today.

What do you guys think? Could I have done myself any serious injury which would stop me deadlifting ever again? Can you effectively replace the deadlift?

Better have it checked out, serious back problems are forever. You may be able to correct this, before it becomes serious. Sounds like you may have compressed a disk. I would definitely give up any heavy lifts for awhile, that is any!.
