Its just funny. Of course im amazed at him at least getting it off the bar and suspending it. I actually thought he was going to do it but when it fell the reaction of all those people coming to lift it off him an all is funny. Sounds like you can hear his ribs crack or something.

I won't give him props for attempting it either, who cares if you can bench 600lbs if your shaped like an egg. What surprises me is he actually injects himself with steroids to have a body like that, what a waste.

funny thing is he won't give you props for having big muscles when you can't lift shit with them. he'll be surprised at the fact that bb'ers inject themselves with steroids to get big muscles that don't do anything...what a waste.

thats some deep shit right there, if i do say so myself.

so the general understanding is that body builders have big muscles and no strength? I figure all that lifting has gotta be doing something....

Different muscular makeup. High volume training typical of bodybuilding, creates a situation where muscles store great amounts of energy (goop basically) but not high amounts of myofibrils to actually create a stronger contraction.

So yes, many bodybuilders basically look strong, but are not powerlifters.

I have never started a weight diown and dropped it. by the looks of that pic he was over his limit by 100 lbs. I just don't see missing a weight that bad and coming back the same day and doing it. I doubt that any one on this forum could miss a weight that badly and come back the same day and make it. Mudge you and I have been there before. You might of missed a new best but you almost got it. I dunno man, in PL they have some strange rules. If you go for a second attempt I believe it has to be 15 pounds UP, and to hit that in the gym I'd have to be seriously psyched. But also being commanded when to press, and so on (shirted benching), makes their lifts lower than gym already.

Mendy was doing 1005 for 2 in the gym, before he did a single in competition with anything outside of the 9s. Its a weird mental game, but those guys have some serious control over their adrenalin and/or mind.

well, it doesn't look like he missed the lift because he wasn't strong enough. There was no upward movment of the bar at all!! He just lost control of it and the bar rolled out of his hands. So he could have probably nailed it if it didn't slip.

Competitions are weird like that, like Mudge said. You have all these rules that you don't have in the gym. You have all this excitment and adrenaline. It makes you do freaky things sometimes. I have missed an ungly clean and jerk in contest, pulling the bar from the floor, losing my center of gravity and falling overbackwards!! After something like that one would think "how can anyone have the guts to try that again??" You would think that (a) I wasn't strong enough to hit the weight in the first place which is why I lost my footing or (b) I would be scared to come back and try again after something freaky like that. Well, I had them put more weight on the bar and I walked up and smoked my next attempt.

    Personally

I could care less how much weight i could lift if i had my idea of a perfect body. I don't see why people train for strenghth if they don't play a sport of some type. Working out just to get strong and not for size with no use for the strenghth just doesn't make any sense. I don't play sports and don't have the mentality that i want to get strong so i can stomp peoples faces in so what i am training for is size/looks, strenghth means pretty much nothing to me its just a benefit of getting bigger.

From the looks of the guy on the video i'm sure he is incapable of playing any type of sport so he's juicing for what reason, just to say he can put up 600lbs, who gives a shit he looks like a lop in the process. What a waste of time in my opinion.

Powerlifting is a sport. Some would even say, that bodybuilding, which is training for looks - is still a sport.

Training for looks makes about as much sense as training for strength. Its the kind of "sense" we call, doing whatever you want because you like it.

What is the point of hypertrophied muscles filled with nothing but goop, when you only use it in the gym? Useless bags filled with goop that look good. No, I can't honestly see how that is more practical than actually having usefull muscle tissue at all.

So you judge him by his looks, nice. Perhaps we should post that picture of the 360 pound Olympic lifter jumping high enough to slam dunk again.

Where is Patrick when you need him.

Like i said i work out for the size and the looks. Not for strenght. I'm not saying you shouldn't work out for strenghth if you need it to play a sport. I'm just saying for me personally i have no use for the strength it just comes with getting bigger and i wouldn't mind if i could only put up 100lbs on bench and curl 50lbs if i had some 22 inch arms and a chest that was about to bust out of my shirt.
