Any exercise that trains your core will train your obliques as a syenergist.

Deadlifts, squats, crunches, military press are good exercises for your core.

I never train my abs and obliques but they are apparent thanks to the main compound movements I do mentioned above, and get hit this way.

Don't worry about widening your waist through exercise, this is due to diet.

Some bodybuilders train their abs others prefer not to.

I personally prefer not to train my abs becuase they get hit enough as secondary muscles doing other exercises.

Getting abs is 90% diet, the other 10% is training your abs to an extent to make them thicker and more chiselled.

You could have really good abs but nobody will see them is they are covered by a layer of fat

    Hope that helped!

    Regards Steve

Weighted side bends are good. As well, any compound movement for the rectus abdominus is also going to stimulate the obliques a lot. Weighted situps and hanging leg raises are my two favorite movements.

If you are looking for more definition, then adding mass to the muscle in question or losing bodyfat is the only way to do so.

So far, buildingup has made fun of a respected member who really does know his stuff. Point #1 proven. He also says a whole lot of stuff that isn't true and that is complete BS. Point #2 proven.

You are spamming by being a complete moron. Try both of them and decide for yourself.

Haha, yes I'm definitely taking steroids... I've always wanted to become a woman.

I just hate it when people like him take over forums with good knowledge and turn away members that actaully have something to contribute. Plus you sort of tick me off at times by being ignorant about the age of others, even if you are joking. It really does turn others away who want to learn. I mean, if they're wrong, who cares? Just politely correct them; it doesn't have to involve age whatsoever and their age should not change whether you value their opinions if they've tried what they're talking about.

    Very true.
But also kids who dabble in something for a year or two very often think they know it all......then they grow up and realize they don't......but then they get old and think they do again.

    Yep thats true to!

Although some of the kids on here know a lot more then most blokes in the gym i go to, and have their own opinions with that knowledge they have, just like the older guys that sometimes are much more wrong. So age to me means nothing, also weight training isnt set in stone by "science" so you cant always say who is right or wrong on some aspects of training only your opinion.
