Sore Lower Back/Excerise

hey guys,

now i know most people on here are not doctors or pt, but i am just wondering for experience what should i do. also if you are a doctor or pt that is a plus!

about 2 weeks ago i worked out my lower back, and i did hyperextentions with fairly large weight for my finaly 2 sets. from 2 days following it until now its been sore, espically in the morning when i wake up. i don't think i hurt my verterbrae or anything like that b/c it is not localized in one area, but it is just in the general area of my lower back. about 10 in by 10 in. anyways i have heard two recommendations one is to let it rest and heal and another is to keep stretching it.

what should i do? i really dont' want to quit running (since i been enjoying it). and i really don't want to quit working out. and today is my lower back excerise workout out. i was thinking of going in and do heavy upper back, and just stretch the lower back.

thanks

If it's just muscle soreness, and not pain, then you may want to consider some bodyweight movements for your lower back to get some additional bloodflow to that area. It may help in the recovery process. If it's pain, then you should see a doctor.

Here is a good article about improving recovery, which would be great in a situation like this:

If you think it is more than sore then go see a sports doctor.
