When working out HIT style, the actual lifting portion of my workout, including warmups, is about 40 minutes. This doesn't include the 5 minute cardio warmup at the beginning, or the 15 minutes or so of stretching I do at the end of the workout.

It never takes me more than 45 minutes. It's usually less, but it may take that long when I'm experimenting with new weights or exercises.

Usually about an hour. I think this is a good guideline to shoot for. You don't want to overtrain or let cortisol affect you too much. However, a few minutes over an hour won't cause your entire world to come crashing down.
And you say watch out for overtraining. keep it less then 15 min's during each training session. You may gain a lot of fat, but your arms will explode wuth unbeliveable sizeOriginally Posted by P-funk

Right now, about 30m 3 times a week, depends how I train though so I wont vote.

I come in at about 45 minutes to an hour each session, depending on whether I'm training arms or legs etc

30 to 45 mins for me. Very heavy and very intense.
I just started out and am usually getting everything done within 45 minutes or less, at 3 days a week
45-60min, but when I'm ON I go 1.5 hrs minimum.
Depends what kind of split I'm on. My 4 day is usually Back, Chest, Legs, Arms and Shoulders and each w/o is about 45 mins... 3 day splits is Chest/Shoulders/Tris, Legs, Back/Bis. Those take anywhere from 45 mins to 1 hour 15 mins.
utill I'm done!
depends on what i'm doing and how conditioned i am at the time. i'm usually sucking so much wind on leg day that it could take me like 1.5hrs or more with the strength work and then hypertrophy/conditioning stuff. upper body stuff is usually easy for me, especially if i'm doing push/pull cause pressing doesn't take too much out of me, pulling on the other hand is tougher but if i'm doing upper/lower then on occasion upper body will kick my ass all over the damn place.

i'd like to be able to get everything done in 45 minutes, but each lifting session takes me an hour.

I cant see how anyone who wants to get big is not staying in the gym for at least an hour. Mine is 1.25-1.5 hours. Longer when cardio is added.

Approx 1.5 hrs. only about 15 min's of that is actually pushing or pulling as the remaining min's is rest time

Talking? Nope, I dont do that.
Taking too long of rest period? MMmmyea perhaps.
Too many sets/reps? Not from what Ive seen on here, I dont.
I mean come on, warm ups, stretches, is it really so hard to believe? Oh you mean JUST the workouts? Hmm, yea an hour is the least I can ever do.

Maybe your workout is too long then...Originally Posted by AKIRA
I'd rather lift intensely for 30 minutes than waste an hour doing it half-assed. Also, how are you judging whether you're doing too many sets/reps? Don't assume that just because someone else does more than you that you're safe.
