Congratulations on making some drastic positive changes in your life. You've come to the right place to get some good information about training and diet. I think full body routines are an excellent choice. I always recommend them to beginners, but I think more advanced trainees should be more apt to performing full body routines as well. That should help you get started in the training department. Also, performing some light to moderate cardio on your days off from lifting is an excellent way to speed up fat loss and help improve your cardiovascular conditioning.
In terms of diet, things get a little more tricky. A good diet is often what separates that successful bodybuilder, and I use that term loosely, from the unsuccessful bodybuilder.
