    Question Muscle Recovery Times

Does anyone know where to find a chart on muscle recovery times? I know most recovery times, the main one I am curious about is the abdominals. Does anyone know how long it takes your abdominals to recover from a workout? Is it ok to do an ab routine in the morning and evening, or will this just break down muscles.

There is no need to train your abs twice a day. Why would you want to do that?

great abs are made in the kitchen not in the gym..you only need to hit your abs hard 3x a week
I train differently than most, my beef is with gravity the weights on the bar are just the medium...Thanks to Wall Street your slice of the American Pie has been reduced to a crumb.

You need low body fat and appreciable mass on your abs for that. Start by reading this, not just the first post, everything:

Guide to Cutting, Bulking & Maintenance

If you want a training routine to help you get there, then check out this:

    Designing a Full Body Routine

Throw in some light to moderate cardio 2-3 days per week for 30 minutes or so, and you'll be well on your way to seeing some abbage.

My diet is ultra clean, and my training is very good(4-5 times a week usually only do legs, shoulders, back, chest 1 time per week, on seperate days of course, and arms twice) I eat aproximatley 5 meals a day low carbs, low-moderate fat, and high protien, the only sugar I eat is in the milk that I drink, also take a couple of protien shakes a day. I have a good six pack, just want to make it better. Any other input would be appriciated, thanks guys

somewhat, I would say I take in about 2500 - 3200 cals per day just an estimate though cause I eat alot of red meat, which after I trim the fat on it it is hard to say actually how many calories are in it. And for the record, when I say situps, I atually mean crunches, reverse crunches, and leg raises.

Sounds pretty good. Perhaps you could alter a few food choices and possibly cut calories another 5%, if necessary, to get you down to that super ripped level that you desire... Most likely diet is going to be the deciding factor. Post your diet in the diet section and get some critiques from the gurus.

My Body fat is pretty low alraedy, wouldn't mind lowring it, but I think it is also neccessary to build my abs a little more to get them looking right. I have pics posted in my profile, tell me what you think is best for me to improve my abs.

Your body fat is definitely already low, but for a completely shredded look going lower is really the only answer. You are probably going to have to get extremely anal about your diet to get any leaner.

You could attempt to build up some mass on your abs, but that's not going to happen without increasing your caloric intake and possibly putting some fat on you before you have the mass on you to show when you cut back down. As well, hitting your abs twice a day with endurance exercises isn't going to pack on any mass either. You need to be doing heavy freeweight compound movements and using weighted ab work to supplement this.

Your first problem is your diet. Somewhere between 2500-3200 can equal 1.53125 lbs of extra weight. You need to get your diet correct. It can mean the difference between seeing those abs or gaining fat on top of those abs. Do like Mr. Cowpimp says and find your diet to mantain your current weight and then drop the cal's by a couple of hundred. Don't fuck with us and give us a 700 cal difference. You need to be precise with your diet to get that 6 pack.
Now like Mr. Lam said you can work it 3 x a week or let the rest of your training do it for you.
Just get your diet correct and abs you'll see.

    DIET IS THE KEY!!!!!!!!!!!

Why do you do your arms twice? Just curious...

arms(bi's and tri's) take less time to heal, so i usually work them in lightly with my chest exercises at the beginning of the week, usually monday, then I will work them hard towards the end of the week, usually friday. I find that this keeps my arms defined, and extra vascular.
