Way to persevere. Long running plateaus like that take a lot of will power to overcome.
Again I would like to thank everyone in this forum that gives sound advice. I don't post a lot of questions, but read a lot of other people's questions and responses. A while back I posted a thread on "stupid plateaus" about my bench press strength. I also posted a thread about "pull ups" being a huge weakness for me. About a week ago I mentioned I can now do pull ups with no weight help. And now I got passed the bench press plateau that has plagued me for a couple of years now.
The biggest things I have taken into account are.
1. More rest between workouts
2. Variety, variety, variety.
3. Incorporated leg workouts once a week.
Today I did bench for the first time in 3 weeks and I went up 15lbs since I last did the exercise. I had been doing barbell incline press and dumbbell presses instead. I had felt gains in the bb incline and db press, so I was certain I went up in the bench. My assumption was correct.
So again thanks for all the help, and keep up the good work!!!!

The only time it's bad to feel the burn is when you're peeing...

Who gave you that tip, I just may try when I reach a sticking point.
Hey, way to go man. The guys are right, plateaus can be really frustrating; way to keep at it! The next step for the pullups is to do them with added weight. Again, good work!
I don't remember exactly who gave me those tips, but it was the regular guys that post in the training section.Originally Posted by min0 lee
