legs lagging - split up quads and hamstrings?

what does everyone think about training quads on one day (with calves) and hamstrings on another (with biceps).

overall my legs are really lagging. not sure if splitting them up into 2 training sessions would be wise or not.

if i split them i'd probably do this:

    QUADS
    squats - 5 sets
    leg press - 3 or 4 sets
    extensions - 3 sets

maybe some hacks instead of leg press sometimes

    HAMSTRINGS
    sldl - 5 sets
    lying curls - 3 sets
    seated curls - 3 sets

better to split into 2 training days or just train them harder in one?

I know that you knowledge surpasses my own, but allow me to put in my 2 pesos (at two cents US, I'd be overcharging):

Why not prioritize by keeping a normal leg day (quads and hams) and adding a day where you alternate (each week) an extra quad or hams workout?
So many cries of inequality stem from one of group
of people doing little or nothing and then bitching
about another group that actually does something
    to improve their lives.

I started to split my leg training days up, Mon - Quads/Calves - Thu - Hamstrings/Glutes.
My hamstrings were lacking but are now finally starting to come in and my quad sweep is definately improving all as a result of splitting my workouts... though two heavy leg days really does kinda suck! lol

I've done it before. I didn't notice any special results, but it is certainly worth a shot.

I was thinking about doing the same thing myself, since I like to follow leg day with back day. I think I'm going to start my split so that leg and back day is the order of the workout days, but there will be a 2 off day break between them.

    me three, or more

I have recently started spliiting the leg day, probably3 weeks counting the one im in now, I do Quads/Delts/Calves monday and Hams/Chest/Calves Thursday I like getting squats in 2X a week but I have to agree with the britchic, it is very tough work and you really gotta be motivated. Was thinkin about moving hams to friday with back.

I may as well give it a shot. Here's the split I'll use for now:

    Mon Shoulders & Triceps
    Tues Quads & Calves
    Wed off
    Thurs Back & Abs
    Fri Chest & Biceps
    Sat Hamstrings & Calves
    Sun Abs

ditto...I've done it many times. depending on your schedule you can also do something like hitting them both on the same day: AM - Quads PM - Hamstrings
I train differently than most, my beef is with gravity the weights on the bar are just the medium...Thanks to Wall Street your slice of the American Pie has been reduced to a crumb.
