Most here seem to think you have to put on some fat while gaining muscle.....but myself and most of the kids I trained with back in the day all put on muscle and gained 0 fat in the process.

steroids help that process, too

in all seriousness, yes, it is possible, but it will take a while, depending on your body. when i started lifting, that was the case. now, the only way *for me* to put weight on is to eat tons of food and naturally gain fat in the process, then cut the fat when done.

everyone is different.

Body type plays a factor. Some can gain muscle with very little bodyfat,
and, some will gain a good amount of fat with muscle.

You also need take in consideration your lifestyle. Surely, if you sit at a
desk all day, you will gain more fat, than a messenger.

It can definately be done. I have multiple friends who gain muscle mass at the same pace I do when bulking, except they don't gain additional fat. It's all about your diet and supplements help as well. I have a friend who runs a whole list of legal supps and jumped from 170-193 in a little over 8 months without cutting. I won't do it because that's too many damn supps to me.

It's certainly possible. It just requires consistency with your diet and careful adjustments to your caloric intake over time. Some people will have more trouble than others, obviously, but it should be achievable for most.

I agree with this when you are talking about adults, but for kids 14-18 it is very easy to do....if they are dedicated

Agreed... I've lost fat while gaining muscle. And quite a bit on both sides. Fact is I'm doing so now!

It can be done for sure. It just takes a VERY diligent approach to diet and training. From 2004-2005 I maintained a bodyfat of around 7% the entire year and added about 10 solid pounds.

Wow, that's pretty impressive at your training age. Good work. Just out of curiosity, do you follow P-RR-S yourself, and if so, what do you do differently from the standard template?

Thanks CP! Much appreciated.

Yes, I practice what I preach. I do tweak the basic program quite a bit throughout the year, but the principles are the same. I use some more advanced techniques and workout designs mixed in with the original protocol. I have written Part I of a training article for Ironman magazine called "P/RR/S Advanced Techniques and Variations," which should be published in a couple of months. Then Part II will follow.

We don't even really need to be that dedicated. I mean, I've been 7-8% body fat with over 35 pounds gained, and I just eat whatever and make sure I get enough protein. Actually, I just got back from taco bell.

He means when you are done growing I think
Obviously teens can get these kind of results, but at 25 and higher and with 5+ years of training...its not that simple.

I agree to some extent. If the young lad is real careful which 99.9% aren't then possible. But If he's the type that want's to gains right now like a lot of us, WHALE CITY HERE WE COME

Ya but remember your the man. Now to go back to my last reply I'll also add this when it pertains to young lads. We have to remember that the young ones are fed by there parents.
Now if you think there going to eat right, then I'm informing all of you right now that have stock in McD's, Windy's, Burger King, Taco bell to cash in.

I believe I did 2 short cycles (2-3 weeks) to test products, however, I did not include the weight gain that I got from them in the 10 lbs. Those were all without PHs.

Thank you CP.

I surely will let you know. I am a staff writer for them now so I will have 1-2 articles in each mag. Also, P/RR/S should be appearing in a book soon as well. Stay tuned!

You are off base. You stated your results, and you are/were 16.
I said he means when you are not a teen, you cannot get those type of results when you have been training for years.

So the quote you made, was exactly my point.

Agree. I'm 17 and have been gaining muscle + losing fat ever since I started training. Sure I'm no monster, but I'm definatly muscular.
