I voted 80% Nutrition 20% Training, although I think it's more like 75% Nutrition and 25% Training.
20% Nutrition and 80% Training
50% Nutrition and 50% Training
60% Nutrition and 40% Training
80% Nutrition and 20% Training
100% Training and eat Pizza!!
Training and nutrition are both important that's for sure. What percentage of each is important to you?
Vote and comments please!![]()

I think they are equally important. As far as what's important I think you are only as strong as your weakest link.
I`m gonna be anal and say 70% 30%![]()
i think its 50/50 you have to train good and eat good!!!!![]()
The harder you try the tougher you will be!
just my opinion, i think it sorta matters if your bulking or cutting..but i'll go up back up and vote so i wont get picked on![]()

I think it's a ratio of 2 to 1, nutrition to training. I picked 60/40, but I think kuso's 70/30 would be a better choice.
How can it be 80% nutrition?
i can eat like a BBer but if i don;t train i sure as hell aren;t gonna look like one.
However, even with a piss-poor diet i can achieve some form of gains with good training.
I say 70% training, 30% nutrition.

Yeah, that's what I wanted to vote for. Steve is trying to screw us by not offering that as a choice.
Just because I believe in the 70/30 theory does not mean I participate in the 70/30 theory. I have not been as careful with my diet over the past six weeks, although I have not missed a workout in that time period.
Jeeeeeeeeesh! If I would have put a 70~30 choice then you guys would have wined and said you wanted 80~20.
OK, so we all agree that nutrition is important. Now no more beer and pizza for you Baboon!![]()

Biased question. A healthy diet is always critical wether you train or not, but if you're a seriuos proponent of iron you can't have one without the other.

the general public does not realize how important diet and nutrition is.
they think that they just need to work-out.....
think of how much time you spend eating compared to how much time you spend working out.
Both are important. I picked 60/40 although for myself I would say it`s closer to 70/30.

To what Prince said. It's true that people just don't understand. How many people do you see at they gym day after day, week after week, month after month..working hard but seeing no results? I would love to see thier diet!

i voted 80% diet and 20%training but i believe its 90% diet and 10 training because it doesnt matter how hard you train if you want to be cut and you train your ass off, but you dont bother dieting you will look like shit. and same goes for if you want to be big you have to get the protein in.
JAY CUTLER said it best on his video "Diet's 90% of it anyway"
Keep Educating, KNOWLEDGE is the POWER
I would say 60% training and 40% nutrition. When I am doing cardio 3 times a week (usually running 2-5 miles) I don't feel guilty about eating ice cream or pizza once in a while, because it won't affect the way I look or feel. I do generally eat a healthy diet though, but I don't count calories or fat grams or anything. I just try to make healthy choices. I also try to think back to what I have eaten at work to see what I will have for dinner. For example, if I was a little low on veggies or protein I will make up for it at dinner, or if I've had very few carbs I may have a bowl of wheeteana or oatmeal.
But if I let up on the cardio schedule, (tends to happen in the winter, when it's too cold to go running) the junk food treats make me feel sluggish and my abs don't look as good.
I am glad warm weather is on the way, it's so much easier to go out for a nice run when the cold air is not burning your lungs.
Well Michelle it seems we're the only two in this thread who think that way, even if our reasoning is slightly different.
Being held down by The Man
I suppose it is different for everyone.
I really think it also depends on what kind of shape you were in to begin with.
For example, if someone used to eat fast food a lot and was never into training hard, then as an adult they started getting into fitness, working out and and changed over to healthy eating habits, it may be a little harder for them to maintain their goals because their body was not eating right or getting enough exercise during the formative years, while it was still growing.
Also, some people have more muscle mass due to genetics.
Question: when we are talking about "nutrition" in this poll what does it mean?
1) A strict bb/fitness diet, with no cheating
2) Generally prefer healthy food, but wouldn't deny yourself a scoop of ice cream for dessert a couple of nights a week, or maybe a slice of pizza and a f beer on the weekend without feeling guilty
3) Eat fast food several times a week, drink beer several nights a week, snack on chips, candy, cookies etc.
I think if you are working out regularly, you can eat like example 2 and you will still look and feel good. Obviously if you are training for a show and you want to be at your best you will have to stick with example 1.
I don't think you could eat like example 3 and still look and feel good from just excercise. In fact, I don't think you'd be able to keep up a good workout schedule with this diet, because you'd probably feel sluggish all the time.
If someone says "When I'm working out, I can eat whatever I want," "whatever I want" doesn't mean greasy fatty foods. If someone prefers a healthy diet, then they are eating whatever they want. If you are working out a lot you don't usually WANT to eat those things because they make you nauseous or sluggish.
Also, if we say "training vs. nutrition" it's not just weights. Not doing enough cardio can have a big effect on seeing results.
Just my two cents.

The poll was not to discuss individual eating habits or nutritional programs that a person is interested in.Originally posted by Michelle

It was a question based on what an individual thinks is important in their overall goals. These goals could be for their own health, their looks, to lose weight, or to bring home the trophy.
How much effort in time spent, preparation, thought, energy, etc. to reach the individual goal in a person’s fitness routine. Many have different routines and goals, but in general if you’re on this forum you are pumping iron and that is the common bond we have here. So the poll was to find out the amount of effort people are putting forth in general for their nutrition and training, the term training on this forum I suppose can describe weights, cardio, mountain biking or marathon sex.
Personally I spend about 1 hour a day working out physically and spend way more time in meal prep, shopping, and macro and calorie tracking then I do in the gym. I also think that what my body takes in for fuel is extremely important! So I voted 80% nutrition, 20% training.

100% Training! Diet doesn't mean SQUAT. I can eat 10,000 colories a day but as long as I burn 10,001 I'm gonna lose weight. If I want to gain I simply reverse the numbers. That's why I say Krispy Kremes were the greatest weight gainer ever invented. Pre-packaged for convenient carry to work. Easily digested. Taste great. What more could you ask for?
Rules? You mean we have RULES for that???
