Has anybody tried the Manta Ray to do squats with? It supposedly helps your form and distributes the weight evenly across your shoulders.

I've never tried one.
It takes time to get use to the weight on your back for squats but you will get use to it. Personally, I'd use my money for food. ------------------ Just another day in the gutter |

Don't wear pads. If it feels really heavy or it leaves marks after squatting... well your shoulders and traps will soon toughen up enough to hold any amount you squat, usually after about 4-5 workouts of not using the pad.
They call them "pussy pads" for a reason. ![]() |

I didn't like the manta ray thing at all, I don't like feeling the weight on the back of my neck.

I've got no proof that it could leave you suceptable to injury, but I don't like the idea of a pad putting my neck in an un-natural position. The bar hurts like he11 to begin with, but once your traps start to grow they act as great padding. Squat marks are badges of courage, look aroung and see how few people have them and also how jealous people get when they see you've got them. Proves you've got the guts to do what it takes to get big.
