I take a brisk walk outdoors for 45-60 min's. This is all you need to lose fat and retain LBM. Where I live we have plenty of dogs roaming, a few rattlesnakes and bordem rearly sets in.
when i do cardio...i mean, for the first 10 or 15 minutes its ok, cause im usually too tired to care, but once i start to wake up, i get bored as hell. ive tried reading magazines which help, but in a month doing cardio 3-4 times a week, u go through a fair amount of magazine. what do u guys do to keep going? oh yea, i listen to music too...

you should check out HIIT Cardio, Max-OT Cardio or Guerilla Cardio.
I train differently than most, my beef is with gravity the weights on the bar are just the medium...Thanks to Wall Street your slice of the American Pie has been reduced to a crumb.
Music!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Guerilla Cardio is hard as fuck if you do it right. My friends and I have done it a lot this summer and last year in school.Originally Posted by LAM

I don't like the concept of extended calorie burning.
I don't do cardio to burn calories, I can just eat less...
I do cardio to actually burn fat.
You could consider alternatives to cardio. I used to do a circuit training style callisthenics program. You could also do the same with a mixture of bodyweight exercises, dumbbells/barbells, and machines. Just don't go anywhere near failure so that it doesn't affect your recovery from weight training. A session might look something like this:
Bodyweight Squats x 20
Reverse Hyperextensions x 20
Pushups x 20
Chinups x 8
Situps x 20
Rock Climbers x 20
Turkish Getups x 20
Rest 1-2 minutes, Repeat 2 more times
This is nowhere near as boring as cardio. I plan on getting back into a similar routine in the very near future.
The only time it's bad to feel the burn is when you're peeing...

So you consider a turkish getup a cardio alternative? I've been trying to incorporate some into my routine but have run into a few issues such as:Originally Posted by CowPimp
1. Where to put it in - i was thinking it would be more of a core exercise than anything else; and
2. How the hell to either get up enough courage to lift heavy in them and/or workout what weight I should be starting at - there doesn't seem to be many links on the net that show correct form that don't show some crazy mofo lifting crazy arse weights

Oh and back to cardio - i find if you go out into the real world, and mix it up with a few hill sprints, some road jogging, some cross country jogging, some beach sprints, etc etc the scenery keeps you amused and you have a definate start and end to aim for...
