    What to bust a plateau?

Try a 10x10 rep:set scheme. 1 exercise. 30 seconds of rest. Most weight you can handle with good form. You'll be sore for days.

Yes, this is very similar to GVT but not recording weight in total tonnage or poundage. Simply, use intensity as the sole measure. It's more the mental barrier or plateau that is tested.

German Volume Training has had a ressurgence in popularity due to the teachings of strength coach Charles Poliquin. It is quite intense, and can be used for short periods to help increase mass and strength.

Well I have...and you are correct...natural trainers can't do this too long without overtraining!

Would I be correct in assuming this would not be done to failure?

when i did gvt, i made sure that i ate a ton of good quality food and as always drank alot of water. i think everybody should try a different type of training methods to break things up alittle bit.

The final sets are the one's in which you will end up killing yourself to get the final reps...so there are some sets that are to failure.

I agree with you Tank! You need to cycle in different training methods to keep growing. The more experienced a lifter you are, the more often you should make a change.
