Question anyone use 25's for deads?

i used the 25 lb plates for the first time today for deadlifts and i must say, they rock. more rom and it recruits a little more legs since you have to squat down to the bar. anyone else tried this?

anyone think it is a little to hard on the back when you deadlift that low? another question i have is should i use the 25's for deads very often or is this hard on the central nervous system?

I'm 6"1 so I dont like bend down that far, makes me a little uncomfortable with what I could do with my back. But a great idea nonetheless.

I might have to... Although I sustained a back injury when I fell from a bike in triathlon, so that makes me a little uncomfortable when doing anything heavy in regards to my back. Ill have to start off light and see how it goes...

I used to do it with just the bar, and I still occasionally do just to make sure that it feels the same as when the bar is loaded up (a way to sort of check my form - but I have to be completely honest with myself).

yea, I always use 25' especially for SLDL's, you can also stand on a platform to get the extra ROM if thats more convenient for you!

Good movement to improve starting strength on the deadlift. Platform deadlifts are good too.

The only time it's bad to feel the burn is when you're peeing...

I think this is pretty dangerous advice MyK.

SLDL should not be performed in a way that your back goes below parallel to the floor...even done so the back is parallel to the floor puts tremendous strain on the lower back and can easily result in hyperflexion of the back.

I disagree. As long as you don't round your back when you bend down you should be fine.

I stand on a step sometimes when I do my deadlifts, it seems like I get better ROM. I am only 5'0 so when I have plates on the bar I don't get a full range.
