lifting and cardio

I know that most people advise to do cardio and lifting on seperate days, but I do not have a lot of time to workout. I can't make it to the gym everday or two times a day. Does anyone combine lifting and cardio. I was thinking about adding a little cardio session after lifting when my routine is is 40 minutes or under. that would be 35-40 minutes lifting and 20 minutes moderate cardio. does anyone do this and still gain ) muscle that is.

thats fine, just have a snack before you workout, and do the weights first!

For me I do cardio everyday but leg day. For cardio i do it first thing in the morning, just a 45 min brisk walk. Then later that day after a couple of meals comes the weight training.

youll need enough food to fuel your lift, and then you want to be running low when you hit your cardio! the ideal thing to do is to do the cardio first thing in the morn on an empty stomach, and then eat all day, and then do your weights at night!

i agree, i guess i just think of food in terms of meals and not snacks. snack implies small and that would make me pass out mid-training. i partially agree with doing cardio in the am fasted with HIIT being the exception.

hey mervin, is it necessary for you to get SS cardio in following every training session? why not cut it out almost all together and throw one HIIT and one interval session in per week. more bang for your buck.

I pretty much agree woth seperating cardio and lifting, even doing it on seperate days. It is just not possible for me right now. I want to add more cardio because I am still overweight and have love handles and a spare tire......and I do not have a perfect diet. I strive to eat right and six times a day, but I still have a big Mac attack from time to time.
