IMO squats tax your cardiovascular system more than any exercise....
I have a question concerning squat repetitions. When I do squats, I do 5 or 6 reps in a rhythm, then I start rest pause up to 10 or 12 reps. I also do this for hack squats, but no other exercises. Deadlifts, bench press, military press, rows, and many other exercises I get into a rhythm, but unless I really lower the weight on squat, then it is basically rest/pause. Is this wrong to do or is this the kind of exercise where its needed? could the weight be to heavy?

Oh, I definetely agree that they tax the system, but should I be rest pausing this much?
Just a side note I don't do any cardio whatsoever, I'm trying to gain the most mass possible so I don't do it. I do however work at Target on the sales floor, so I'm CONSTANTLY walking.
8 reps is plenty for squats.......just dont do the high 12 rep setsOriginally Posted by swordfish

Unless you are training for speed skating or running the 100-400 meter dash you dont need those high reps.Originally Posted by BigDyl

nothing wrong with doing rest pause sets. just remember to add in some microcycles of low and moderate intensity to your training as well.
