    too much mass!!

    20 yr old male
    5 11-6 foot
    185 lbs
this may sound kinda strange to you all!! but i seem to be gaining to much mass!
i seem to be very prone to gaining mass ( muscle and fat) and i was still gaining muscle while i was cutting!!
the thing is that i wanted to go for a very lean and svelte look but i seem to have developed a thick look (if that is how to describe it) ie the distance between my back and chest and abs and lower back seems to have increased by a fair amounts even though i was lowering my BF!!
should i stop the weightlifting and focus on cardio or change to low weight high reps?? because all lifting heavy is doing is packing on mass!! as i seem to be genetically predisposed to this!

    any help greatly appreciated

Do you actually want to get rid of some of your muscle mass, or do you want to stay where you're at now and stop gaining?

i would like to loose some muscle mass! as i have a very bulky look which is the not what i want at all..... just how would i go about loosing muscle mass since i gain it so easy! do i just stop doing weights completely? i don`t really want to do this as i really enjoy lifting! and what could be a long term solution to this as i wouldn`t wana give up lifting completely or even lifting heavy as i really love pushing myself with the heavy weights..i tried to stop lifting for a short while and let my diet go but i seemed to gain fat and not really loose any of the muscle!

You don't have to stop weight training all together. Just lift lighter weights for more reps, and do more cardio. Go running as well.

Do everything wrong in terms of bulking. Eat in a caloric deficit. Jog first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. Do more cardio. Maybe even stop lifting for a little while, or start using really light endurance range repetition sets.

When you get to your target weight, make absolutely sure you don't exceed maintenance calories. If you do this, then you can lift heavy and gain strength while maintaining your weight.

it is impossible to target muscle loss in a certain area. the body is either in a whole body anabolic or catabolic state, there is no inbetween. if you want to lose mass in those areas it will cost you muscle all over your body.

    mass

i think im around 13% the last time i checked.... i understand i can`t target specific parts for muscle loss like fat loss...but its mass off the whole body im looking for cause my problem applies to my legs to (ie tree trunk legs) but i think what cow pimp suggested seems to be a logical solution.. i`ll give it a try and see what results i get...

    thanks for the help!

No, you can't target fat loss either.

I can kind of see what your saying, I had an explosion of growth, and I don't know exactly why it came so fast. I went from being this small framed guy, who couldn't gain weight to kind of bulky, I have the pics on here.

get down to 7-8% bf and I GUARANTEE you will not think that you have too much mass anywhere on your body. you will be back asking how to bulk up

Excellent progress in your pics. As LAM said, get down to a lower bf and you wont look as chunky as you presently feel. If you are still not satisfied, then look into the other ways.

thats entirely a personal decision. My goal is to get to where you presently are.

LBM is harder to gain than fat. So dont rush into doing anything to loose LBM. Just get to a lower bf and then decide.

It all came on so fast and rapidly, it was and still is totally weird for me, so I am still trying to decide what to do with it. I am still kind of confused as to how went from so skinny to this so fast. So yea.

that's a good weight for your height. I would try to stay at that weight but @ around 8-9% bf. you would look real solid then

You're asking a very biased crowd, obviously. Are you happy with what you have, or would you like to get bigger? No one should be providing input for this decision but you. The goal is for you to be happy with your looks.

that is someone else, thats the leprachaun, who actually started this thread. No, I promise, I'm actually 5'7.

Also, I'm looking for input, not that I will nessasarily use it, just some advice. Since I'm used to being small, I feel really big now, and I feel like I am bursting out of alot of my clothes. It feels like I'm a totally different person, so I am not really used to the size I am now, and am trying to channel it.

Actually I kind of feel like a beast, I think that since I grew so fast in actually a little less than two years my brain hasn't caught up with my body, so I kind of want to know if I look too big?
