powerlifting is great. I don't do it but appreciate it. Especially if it is raw powerlifting. I would compete in raw powerlifting if I was a better bencher.

Yeah, I have a lot of respect for the sport, but not so much for the 1000+ benches. I was trying to get into it a while ago, but realized it would probably be for nothing because most competitions allow gear. I also had (have) a terrible bench. My routine is somewhat based on Westside though, because I'm still trying to get stronger.

yea, i haven't benched in months. i just overhead press now. My best bench ever was only around 315-325. I could never really get better than that.

My best ever was 205 at 230 (or very close to that BW). I had to stop training it due to a shoulder injury, so now I'm hoping to add a hell of a lot to it.

Aren't you supposed to be able to bench to BW?

I have never PL or tried to max out...The only time I use a barbell is for inclines. 185 for 12reps

I've never entered a formal competition, but I certainly take pride in increasing the weights I can throw up in the big 3. I have also dabbled with Westside a little bit, and plan to do so more in the future.

I'm just about to start powerlifting next week, this is the routine I'm doing, based on Westside.

    Sunday Dynamic Bench
    • Dynamic Exercise - 8 sets of 3 55% of raw 1RM. 60 secs rest approx
    • Triceps - high intensity/low volume – rack lockouts 3 sets
    • Shoulders - high stress military presses 3x8
    • Lats/Upper Back - low intensity, high volume a row 3x10

    Monday Max Effort Lower
    • Squat (box) 3 lifts at or above 90%- work up too it.
    • Hamstrings – low stress SLD 3 sets of 8
    • Low Back – low stress hyperextensions 3 sets of 8
    • Abs – rainbows 4 x 12
    • Calves - Calf Raises 3 x 8

    Wednesday Max Effort Bench
    • Max Effort Exercise - Wide Grip Benches. On max effort bench press day, work to a 1RM. 1RM for THAT day, you will try to do 3 lifts at or above 90% work up to it.
    • Triceps - low intensity/high volume – CG bench 3 sets of 8
    • Shoulders - low stress front raises, side raises and rear raises 3 sets of 8
    • Lats/Upper Back - low intensity, high volume a pull-up 3 sets max
    • Biceps – two sets BB curls

    Friday Dynamic Lower
    • Dynamic Squat - parallel box wide stance Week 1 – 10x2 @ 50% Week 2 – 10x2 @ 55% Week 3 – 10x2 @ 60% (repeat)
    • Dynamic Standard Deadlift - Week 1 – 10x1 @ 50% Week 2 – 10x1 @ 55% Week 3 – 10x1 @ 60% (repeat)
    • Hamstrings - high stress good mornings 4 sets of 8
    • Low Back – high stress good mornings
    • Abs – leg raises 4 sets
    • Grip – forearm wheel 2 sets

All dynamic work must be as DYNAMIC. Focus on speed, not weight
Max effort work must fall within 3-5 lifts at or above 90% of that day. If you go below this, you are not getting the benefit of max effort training
    Don’t go to failure.

    After 3 weeks:
Switch ME lower to Deadlifts while standing on elevated platform 3 lifts at or above 90% ( switch exercises every week or every 2 weeks) work up to it.
    @ March 30
    DEADLIFT - 210kg

I train powerlifting style, although I don't compete. There's also Rocco , Sean, and sftwrngnr (although he hasn't been around much lately) besides the ones that have already checked in.
