    Head pains while lifting?

Was doing the last set of bench press today and on the 3rd or 4th rep I got a sudden horrible pain in the back of my head.
In hindsight I'm not sure if I was breathing right or what, all I was concentrating on was getting that damn weight up. Anyway felt like someone was pushing on the back of my head with a brick.
Got up and walked around for a minute (I was all dizzy), got a drink and just tried to walk it off. After like two or three minutes the pain was gone. No headache, dizziness or anything. Finished my set up w/o any problems and went home.
Now that I'm thinking about it I thought I'd ask if any of you had gotten sudden REALLY EXTREME pains in your head while lifting a hard weight?

P.S. Got my blood pressure done like 6 weeks ago and was really good. So I don't think it was like a BP or cholesterol related problem.

It may have been a problem with holding your breath and the pressure building up too much.

I saw some youngish guys trying to deadlift with extremely heavy weights and one kid went up, did one rep whilst holding his breath, face went extremely red, dropped the weight, blood dripped out of his nose and then he shouted 'yea!'.

Nosebleeds is something I can definitley relate too. I have 4 or 5 a week. for no reason. Sometimes while I'm excercising. Sometimes while I'm sleeping. No rhyme or reason.
I wonder if they are related.
I was hiking up a canyon trail once and bled so much that I left a clear trail of blood over the 3/4 of a mile scramble up loose rock. (totaly worth the view when I finished)

Got the damn pain again today. Was doing leg extensions (last set of 8 at 315 ! !!) and on the last rep when pushing my hardest (and I was breathing this time) I got this explosion of pain in the back of my head. Its like being kicked in the back of the head. It doesn't last long and it has no lingering effects but its just almost a little scary.
What do you guys think? My diet is good-ish. I drink atleast a 1.5 gallons of water a day. And my BP is fine (at smiths when I checked it).
Can you think of anything like a vitamin deficiancy or something of that nature I should look for?

Lomac, I'd go to your GP/physician and get it checked out. It could just be a case of your breathing being poorly timed but it's better to be safe than sorry.

I went for a week on a vacation in the middle-of-nowhere Idaho and had NO access to any weights while I was there. I jogged, mountain-biked and hiked all the time I was there but did no lifting.
Came back two days ago and went straight to the gym (ahh comfort zone) and had about the best chest day ever. Pushed my hardest but got no headaches at all!
No idea what the problem was but whatever it was it just needed time to heal.
Thought I'd let you guys know in case someone here ever has the same problem.

Its probably your breathing. I have had the exact same problem as you, only happens when your lifting your 100% right? Especially when im benching and db pressing, the pain is killer, but when you breath more properly, taking in large gasps of air suddenly i didnt feel the headahce anymore. So yeah like a couple of other guys have mentioned, its your breathing most likely.
