Free Weights

So I am asking for a set for Christmas. What are the essntial weights and what is a good brand and a price range I should be aiming for? A link to a page with a good set would be helpful.

go to performbetter.com or powersystems.com and look at the basic set with bar and weights. Resonably priced and a good place to start.

Also see if you can swindle some olympic dumbbells. It's really nice to be able to use the same plates for both your dumbbells and barbell.

You can get everything you need including hex DB's at walmart for a fraction of the price. There oly plates are gold gyms and nice plates. About 47 cents a lb. They have the bars, bench and whatever you need to start with

Just buy a bow-flex. It is the best piece of training equipment ever made!

no,no really, get a bow-flex. I have been using one for years and it has made me ripped to shreds. It is by far a better system that free weights. Free weights are only for meat heads that want to lug around a bunch of iron!

I wish I knew there were olympic sized DBs before I went out and bought new weights for the DBs I have in order to farmers' walks... which I had to stop doing anyways because our basement flooded. Talk about annoying.

If you combine the bow-flex workouts with the atkins diet, and supplement your weight training with Tony Little's Gazelle(sp) glider you will rock this world with your results!!!!!

If you don't have a bowflex, go to your local gym and ask them where they keep their bow-flex machines and their total body gyms. Most major gyms will have a whole room set up with these two pieces of equipment.

Actually the best method is to eliminate the competition. Why get bigger when you can just slay every human larger than you? Then you will be the biggest. Not to mention all that slaying is a good workout too if you use a pick axe and a sledgehammer.

Bowflex is no joke, I built my biceps from 13 inches to 18.75 in 1 year using it.
